The outdoor education in Bergen June 7th to 11th is cancelled due to too few registrered participants.
Course description
The purpose of the course is to introduce you to Outdoor Education, to give you some ideas on how to practise it, primarily in primary schools and to provide some skills in certain aspects of Outdoor education.

Contents of the course
- Defining and teaching Outdoor education
- Backcountry camping under primitive conditions
- Outdoor cooking - food from nature
- Maps and navigation
- Canoeing
- Fishing in lakes
- Sampling and identifying small animals in lakes
- Sampling and identifying plants and animals from the sea
- Hiking in forest and mountain
- Security and life saving
- Outdoor education as a working method in primary school
Registration and fee
Sign up here within April 6th
Course fee: NOK 10 500,–
The fee includes all costs from Monday 7th to breakfast Friday 11th (food, lodge, etc). Travel expenses are not included.
Subject to change depending on number of participants. Flight tickets are bought at own risk. Participants will be given final answer when registration closes.
Please note that this course is only open for teachers in primary schools in Iceland.
Itinerary/programme
Monday 07.06.10
- 14:45: Arrival Bergen Airport, Flesland. Each person is responsible for transport from the airport to Bergen University College.
- 16:30: Start at Bergen University College, Landåssvingen 15, 5096 Bergen.

Preparation for the week
Life Saving - 21:00: Lodge at Montana Hotel
Tuesday 08.06 to Thursday 10.06.10
- Breakfast at Montana Hotel on Tuesday morning
- 10:00: Departure from Bergen Bus Station to Holsnøy island
- 12:00: Start hiking trip in canoes
- 16:00: Departure Holsnøy island on Thursday
- 20:00: Restaurant dinner in Bergen

- Using the local environment: Outdoor Education in the city.
Some suggestions: Outdoor base at Mount Floien, The Aquarium, “VIL VITE” – Bergen Science Centre, The Norwegian Fishing Museum at Bontelabo.
