A taste of success
Last Friday a cultural evening with cooking was arranged for the international students and their Norwegian buddies.
The cultural evening consisted of cooking and an Olympic quiz.
Piotr Gasiorowski and Slawomir Drazkiewicz from Poland made potato pancakes, fried in deep oil. Jonas Keersmakers from Belgium was on the same group as the Norwegian girls, who “made” pizza Grandiosa.
- It was not hard, so I’m going to have this pizza two or three times a week, he says.
Slawomir wished that the Norwegians had made some traditional Norwegian food instead.
- They could have let us taste some brown cheese for instance, not pizza!
And the winners are…
The two guys from Poland thought the paella, a Spanish dish, had the best taste. Jonas preferred Brigadeiro, a kind of chocolate mousse from Brazil.
The formal winner, voted by the International Office and members of the Student Parliament, was PostPigeons. The group, consisting of students from Holland, Belgium, Finland and the UK, had made several light meals.
They had a good combination of taste, presentation, quantity and decoration.
Success to be repeated
The students were all very pleased with the evening, and thought it was exiting to taste the food from the different countries. The students had divided into six groups, which got 300 kroners each to buy ingredients.
Cathrine Palmstrøm from the International Office is also satisfied with the event, which she arranged together with Benedict Ernest Peter who is a student assistant at the office. The event took place at Landås campus.
- It was a success that we will repeat next semester, she says.
