Dinoflagellates - Dinophysis

Dinophysis is a common genus in net-sample from seawater.
The cells are autotrophic or they live heterotrophic. The cell has wing-like outgrowths, which elongate from the upper part of the cell and on a short part on the one side. Here we find the grooves with the flagella.
The cell is flattened from one side. The length is 48-67 my. (1my=1/1000mm).
Dinophysis produce the poison DSP, which can accumulate in mussels and give diarrhoea to people who eat mussels.
