Green algae - Gonium
The genus Gonium has colonies with 4-16 cells embedded in mucilage to form a flat plate. The cell has two flagella and the whole colony rotates. The colony is about 70 my. (1 my=1/1000 mm). Gonium pectorale is common in polluted water.
