Studies in Professional Diving

We offer a one-year vocational training program for professional divers, and hold a number of courses of shorter duration.

The one-year program is a vocational training, which provides most certificates needed as a professional diver. In addition to training in most forms of commercial diving, the curriculum includes diving physics, dive medicine, construction works, underwater blasting, hot work, salvage and pipe laying, and core subjects like mathematics and language.

Comercial Diving

A commercial diver works both above and below the watermark. Much of the work takes place on land, but when needed, the diver enters the water!

The Diver Education at Bergen University College is a vocational training which provides most certificates needed for commercial diving (except closed bell diving).

The Diver Education teaches you many different diving methods and forms of underwater work. You also learn how to be an effective member of a diving team.

A professional diver is active, accurate and has good interpersonal skills. It is an advantage if you are handy person, like challenges, and are willing to take the initiative. A professional diver is primarily a professional who performs work under water.

To be admitted to the program, you must pass a selection, which includes the Cooper test and a medical examination. A professional diver must have good physical and mental health. It is an advantage to have relevant professional qualifications and/or relevant professional experience. Experience in diving is not mandatory.
