Outdoor learning 1 30 study points 2005-2006

Outdoor Learning is a method used in schools where parts of the normal school day are moved from the traditional, inside classroom, to the environment outside the classroom.

You will learn how to integrate all school subjects from the curriculum in a cross-curricular way.

The major part of the course is taken up by activities within subjects, such as domestic science, physical education and nature studies. The course is adapted to primary school children (6-13 years).

Outdoor Learning is a comprehensive study course that takes place on two days a week over a period of one year.

Most of the teaching takes place out of doors where the student learns about nature in its own setting and also about the local environment.

Some of the lectures are held indoors.

The course is split into two modules:

Nature in the local environment (12 study points)

Body and health (18 study points)

Learning methods:

Lectures alternate between theory and training in practical skills. An important part of the teaching will occur out in nature, at the seaside, riverside, and in winter, on the ski slopes. This course also includes three, cross-curricular excursions:

Autumn: Cano trip, 3 days

Winter: Ski trip 3 days

Spring: Coastal trip 3 days

Course activities/subjects: Some subjects that are priorities are mentioned below:
