Research and development

One important aspect of all communication is the way in which content is presented. New technical systems require a new approach to material while maintaining a firm footing based on educational methods. Many of Centre for New Media’s personnel have backgrounds and experience from education, with a special interest in new methods of communicating content.

With the support of the Research Council of Norway’s programme for Knowledge, Education and Teaching (Kunnskap, utdanning og læring, KUL), Centre for New Media jointly runs the LISBET project with Oslo University College and the University of Oslo. The LISBET project is for teaching at school and in libraries – multi-functional teaching resources and interaction, teaching and teaching methods – and is set to run for four years. The main purpose of the project is to study students’ use of information and communication technology (ICT) and their communications while working at the computer.

Centre for New Media not only develops content for computers, but is also interested in the potential of mobile phones, GPS and PDA. Centre for New Media has also carried out several research projects to assess how broadband can be utilised to develop content for people with different disabilities.
